STYLE: Fashion Is Supposed To Be Fun

There are so many things I love about living in Atlanta — the history, the culture, the diversity (yes, Atlanta is diverse contrary to popular belief) and the never-ending amount of fun things to do, see, attend and experience.

There is nothing more exciting than Spring/Summer in Atlanta because of the sheer number of outdoor concerts and festivals, the endless amount of girlfriend brunches, fashion shows, picnics and day parties. And because of the way my social calendar is set-up, I have to stay fashionably ready for anything at anytime during the months of March through September. This look is perfect for all the fun activities ahead!

This seasonal ensemble is so much fun and so very versatile — I could wear on a lunch date with hubby, Sunday brunch with the girls, to a concert, or to a fashion show produced by any one of Atlanta’s reality TV divas or an up-and-coming indie fashion designer/stylist.

Every now and again I find that one clothing item that makes me drool. That’s what happened the day I logged on to Eloquii’s website and these deliciously (yes, I said delicious) delightful ruffled pants screamed “NIKKIFREE THESE WERE MADE JUST FOR YOU.” See, I had seen these Ruffle-Trim Wide-Leg Pants  on the Neiman Marcus website and I just died. I needed them in my life. Unfortunately, they did NOT come in plus (of course).

Next, I saw them on one of my favorite style bloggers Monica of Awed by Moni. I love her classic style and the way she styled these pants. THEN, here comes Lailah Ali wearing them on The Steve Harvey Show. That was it — I was going to have some variation of these pants. I called a couple of my indie designer friends who said they would try to make them but they weren’t available at the  moment. I had all but given up on finding these pants ….. and then the GOD(desses) over at Eloquii heard my cries and met my needs. Hallelujah, Thank You Father! (LOL!)

These pants (almost sold completely out) are so comfortable, and while they look rather trendy, the black polyester fabric and side ruffles lined in white piping actually make them an instant classic. I absolutely love them. The double ruffle crop top (sold out) is also from ELOQUII and pairs PERFECTLY with the pants. I keep the look black and white throughout with the accessories and shoes, and popped on a red lippie for a subtle hint of color. Ahhhh …. perfection!

I hope you like this look as much as I do and am inspired to step outside your fashion and style comfort zone. Toss out any doubt you might have and just go for the fun of it all. Fashion is supposed to be fun right?!!

Have Some Fun This Weekend!
