Mules have gone wild. They are everywhere you look: on street corners, in office buildings, grocery stores, university campuses and parks all across the country. They have completely taken over! Oh, I’m not talking about the four-legged kind, but the flat ones that go on our two feet!
That one shoe trend that is really taking over 2017 is the mule — and in all kinds of fun variations: flats mules, high-heeled mules, low block-heeled (my next shoe post is about the reemergence of the block heel), espadrille mules, you name it *in my Auntie Shirley Caesar voice*. You can get them in a variety of colors and fabrics, and even embroidered. Let your feet speak for you in the “IT” shoe of the year. For this post, I am specifically featuring the “loafer mule.”
When Gucci introduced the Princetown slipper back in 2015, it was the most coveted shoe at the time. A perfect and stylish mash-up of preppy loafer meets furry house slipper, the luxury shoe has been called the ultimate mule slide by many leading fashion magazines and fashionistas everywhere. I wasn’t initially a fan of the shoe, but I’ve come to appreciate it as another proven success for Creative Director Alessandro Michele and his estate-sale aesthetic on classic Gucci.

Didn’t take long for this trend-setting shoe (with and without the fur) to be totally replicated by other luxury brands and even their fast fashion step cousins. I’ve gathered a few of my faves with various price points so everybody can get in on the trend.
