I DID IT!
After all the encouragement from friends, family and my followers on Facebook and Instagram, I’ve finally started my blog!!!
For a few years now I’ve contemplated starting a blog as a creative outlet that would allow me to combine my love of fashion and writing. I’ve always enjoyed expressing myself through writing, so much so that in 7th grade, I made the decision that nothing would stop me from being a newspaper reporter. Nothing did. I loved everything about covering the news -- chasing ambulances, exposing corruption, profiling prolific people -- but the pay. My paycheck didn't allow me to indulge as much as I’d like to in my absolute most favorite pastime … SHOPPING!
As the only child of a woman who’s never had enough closet space to store all of her designer and affordable clothes, shoes and handbags, it was inevitable that I too would follow in my mom’s footsteps and become a clothes, shoes and handbags HOARDER! LOL!!! Oh and did I mention my mom has seven sisters who, like her, have never missed a sale or an invitation to a private event at Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom? So whenever my husband gets on his soapbox about my addiction, I have to remind him that I was destined to be a shopaholic. In my case, it’s hereditary. LOL!

NikkiFree Style will offer a few things to my followers: Fashion & Style Inspiration (I love mixing very affordable pieces with luxury items), Makeup & Beauty Tips (I'm a neophyte wannabe makeup artist with improving skills), Tutorials, Giveaways, Shop My Closet opportunities and a little Pop Culture thrown in for good measure!

ReplyDeleteI love the back story. Mine is the opposite. My mother is not into clothes, shoes, makeup, etc. She's not nearly as high maintenance as I am. Neither are my sisters... Mama says I got that from my father's mother's and for that, I say thank ya!
