Last year, my husband and I spent Valentine's Day in Honolulu. We almost didn't make it because air travel in the States was a mess, and we were in the middle of a major ice storm in Atlanta. Flights were being cancelled by the second and ours saw the same fate. However, a little patience and a ounce of kindness went a long way with the ticket agent who put us on the last flight out of Atlanta that evening. We had to fly to San Francisco, spend the night there, and fly to Hawaii the next morning. We didn't care about the new more hectic itinerary because we were both eager for a sunny vacation in the middle of a very bad winter. We landed in Honolulu on Valentine's Day and spent the most amazing 5 days soaking up the sun, visiting friends and enjoying our time together.
Today will be pretty low key for us when compared to how we spent Valentine's Day in 2014. We've planned to go to the UniverSoul Circus, followed by a double dinner date with friends I'm hoping will marry one day! Today would be a great day for a proposal! Hmmmm .....
Since LOVE is in the air, I think my LOVE skirt (by Neva Marie Designs)was most appropriate to wear in honor of St. Valentine! Here's my Outfit of the Day on this day dedicated to LOVE! (Yes, more black and white!):
Style Tips:
1. Invest in a high-waisted skirt. They are flattering on all body types, but most especially plus size women. The band serves to define the waistline even when you don't really have one. The high-waist band as helps to significantly minimize the mid-section. I don't think any woman can go wrong with this particular style of skirt, if paired with the right top.
2. Mixing prints is PERFECTLY OK in 2015! If you are intimidated and not sure if you are doing it right, I suggest you start slow and stay in the same color palette. In my LOVE #OOTD, I kept it simple with a black and white color combo with a pop of color.
